DICE announced a fix coming for the Playstation 3 users for the microphones to be more functionable and easier to use. Glad to see a fix finally coming! Stay tuned

Battlefield 3 Back to Karkand Map Pack Date Revealed as December 7th

The Asia Playstation Store had revealed when the Batttlefield 3 Back to Karkand Add-on would be available. The add-on would become available on December 7th according to the Asia Playstation Store. What we do know, is that the Playstation store usually updates on Tuesday, so that would make it December 6th for Playstation 3 users. The December 7th date, may just be the time difference between North America and Asia.

Note: Playstation 3 users receive Back to Karkand one week before PC and Xbox 360. More official word will be stated shortly we are sure.

Battlefield 3 client update for PlayStation 3

On November 30th, we are planning a client update of Battlefield 3 on PlayStation 3. This update will be accompanied by a scheduled maintenance period for all formats. Read on for the full details and timings on this update to your game.

Starting November 30th at 09:00 CET (that's 00:00 PST), we will do a scheduled maintenance of our database. We estimate that this maintenance will take approximately three hours, and it will affect all formats.

During this time, we will also roll out the client update for Battlefield 3 on PlayStation 3 (Xbox 360 will follow shortly). When you start the game, you will be notified of the update, and we strongly advise you to download it, since it contains a number of fixes, updates, and some new features. Full change list below. For reference, this is a very similar update to what the PC version received recently:

General fixes

• Significant improvements to the Squad Join interface, full details in this earlier blog post
• Removed FIND ME A SQUAD option
• Allow players to join empty Squads alone, thus having 1/4 Squad members
• Change order of options to LEAVE SQUAD, INV A FRIEND, SWITCH TEAM
• Disable Privacy flag when 1 man Squad
• Reset Privacy flag from Private to Public when Squad drops to 1 player
• All occupied Squads will now show up colored blue on the Squad selection screen
• Players who choose not to join Squads will also show up as Blue in the "Not in a Squad” line
• Squads that are currently empty will display as white -- if you wish to join an empty Squad, you can choose the first one marked with white text
• Added round duration and ticket summary at end of round screen
• Fixed sound for when climbing ladders
• Fixed and issue with some weapons' sounds in first person view
• Fixed a swim sound loop error
• You should no longer be able to damage a friendly vehicle when sitting in an open position
• Grenades now drop to ground if you get killed while attempting to throw it
• Spawn protection now should work in Conquest so you no longer should spawn too close to enemies

Going Back to Karkand #6: Gulf of Oman gameplay, combat vehicles revealed

The countdown to our first Battlefield 3 expansion pack Back to Karkand continues. This week, we have new gameplay footage from our reimagining of all-time classic map Gulf of Oman. Plus, more info on the new vehicles you will be able to take control of come December.

Check out this gameplay trailer from our reimagined version of Gulf of Oman. Like in previous Back to Karkand trailers, you can see some of the new vehicles in action here. The three combat vehicles that we are bringing back from Battlefield 2 in Back to Karkand are the STOVL fighter jet, desert buggy, and one of the APC’s.

"I wanted to complement what we already have in the base game, plus I wanted to bring back some of the classic vehicles from Battlefield 2 that we know players loved, such as the Short Take-Off/Vertical Landing fighter jet and the desert buggy. In today’s trailer, you can also get a first glimpse of a hitherto unannounced fourth vehicle bound to strike fear into the very hearts of the enemy. See if you can spot it!", said Back to Karkand Lead Designer Niklas Fegraeus.

Battlefield 1943 for BF3 PS3 Customers

After a lawsuit filed against EA, about the promise they had that they would give all BF3 owners on PS3 a free download of Battlefield 1943, and they didn't come through with what they said, they decided to fix their mistake.

There have been some misunderstandings around Battlefield 1943 and Battlefield 3. To address this we are making Battlefield 1943 available free of charge to owners of Battlefield 3 on the PS3 beginning this month.

Battlefield 1943 PlayStation 3 vouchers will be available on the following dates via the 1943redemption.battlefield.com portal:

November 26th, 2011 for Battlefield 3 players on PlayStation Network Sony Europe.
December 10th, 2011 for Battlefield 3 players on PlayStation Network Sony America.
December 17th, 2011 for Battlefield 3 players on PlayStation Network Sony Asia and Sony Japan.

To download your copy of Battlefield 1943 for the PlayStation 3 please follow the easy steps below.

Activate your Battlefield 3 Online Pass for the PlayStation 3 using the voucher included in the game (see step #5 for additional instructions).
Visit 1943redemption.battlefield.com on or after the dates outlined above for your region and log in with your Origin ID and password. Click here if you need help with retrieving your account information.
